Well, one of my goals - whether it's realistic or not - is to get the boxscore and account from every EHL game, and help Ralph out with his EHL data. (Of
course this may take 20 years or so.)

Maybe 40 years! I have a few from the Troy Trojans in '52. Some are complete and some are not when listed in the Troy newspapers. I have lots of Ducks
boxes too.

So I have to ask, only because I am curious. Where do you live Goldthorpe?
EHL, I know you said New Hampshire, mind if I ask what city? I've worked there a few times around Manchester and Concord. |

On Long Island, about 35 minutes from the old LI Arena in Commack.

Another great Greensboro player, Bob Sicinski from 1968. Bob made the all-star team the following year.

BTW- I was wrong. Muir retired after the 1968-69 season. Must be my age.

Hi Goldthorpe, Is there any way you could send me a copy of the picture of the 59-60 team? My father is Ken Wilson the first GM of the Generals. He is the guy in the suite standing on the right side of the picture. We have some of his old photos but not that one. Take a look at the link below. Thank you. Look forward to hearing from you. My email is twilson@nashvillepredators.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Wilson_(ice_hockey) |

Tim,
You missed the end parenthasis on your link. This should work better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Wilson_(ice_hockey) Fortunately, I had read the wiki article on your dad last month, so I knew there was a lot more to it. I used to listen to those Des Moines Capitols games late at night on 1000-AM when I was in high school in the 70s (and sometimes on WOWO - Ft. Wayne). Des Moines had an EHL Jersey Devils connection, which was especially important to me after the EHL & Devils demise in 1973. Devils/Capitols players: Curt Brackenbury, Jim Park, Jack McIlhargey, Pat Russell, Ian MacKinnon, and Bob McKinstry playing for both teams. (Hockey oddity: The 1972-73 Devils had 7 guys whose last names started with Mc or Mac). Goldthorpe and I have a Nashville hockey question for you. There was a Russian series in 1963 where the Soviets played several EHL teams. Goldthorpe has in his notes that the Russians played the Nashville Dixie Flyers on Christmas day 1963. Yet, we so far can't find a record of the game. I know it's a long shot, but is there any chance you might have some insight as to where we could find out if they played and who won (without actually having to travel to Nashville)? Do you know if the Preds keep any EHL history archives - or have people who date back to that time who we could ask? If I come across any pictures of your dad in my research, I'll send it along. Thanks! Tom - TheEHL.com |

Tim, that 59-60 team photo I posted a few pages back was taken from a magazine so that size, maybe a little bigger, is all I have of that photo. I can try to
enlarge it a bit and e-mail it to you but it might get a little pixelated.

Tom,
I believe my dad got players from Washington through is connections with Max McNab. Max was the long time GM for Washington and was a good friend of my
dad's growing up in Saskatoon.

Thanks! I knew the face was familiar. There are not too many Generals I would recognize, but I'm sure I saw Carter's likeness a few times back in the
60s and 70s.
