Ftorek named Kalamazoo Wings captain

KALAMAZOO - Forward Sam Ftorek was named captain of the Kalamazoo Wings, with defenseman Jeff Mason and forward Darryl Bootland named assistant captains.

Ftorek, a 12-year pro, played for the Central Hockey League's Amarillo Gorillas last season, scoring 20 goals and 45 assists for 65 points in 64 games.

Mason was team captain for the ECHL Gwinnett Gladiators last season and Bootland, the brother of K-Wings coach Nick Bootland, has NHL experience and spent most of his career competing in the American Hockey League.
